Re-Thinking Teaching and Learning

Google Site Tutorials

Hey there! I just wanted to write a short blog post about the AUSSIE Digital School Solutions screencasts on Blip.tv. I decided to record these instructables because through my experiences as an instructional technology consultant, I found that teachers in the schools that I work with would always have similiar questions about the Google Site. For that reason I thought why not record the answers so they can be used as a resource for teachers in DSS schools.

The “How to Create a Google Site” instructable explains the initial steps of creating a site. This video is helpful if you are new to Google sites and want help creating a page. The “How to Manage a Homework Page…” screencast is really useful for teachers who are editing a top-level page for the first time. The “How to Manage Class Collaboration…” screencast is a great reference for teachers who want to add a list, calendar, or sub-page to their web site and demonstrates how to edit the main page.

For teachers who are looking to utilize hyperlinks within their website or embed a Google form into their website, the “How to manage parent connections page” is an excellent tool. Finally the “How to Manage a Student Profile Page” is a great example for teachers who want to learn about using a file cabinet template within their site. Good luck in building your classroom websites and I hope these screencasts prove to be a helpful part of your process.
